"An athlete does not complain much about getting wounded in the contest, but he would be in agony if he were not even admitted to the stadium."

          —
St Basil the Great, of Cæsarea.

◊    Born in Athens, Greece, the Gymflesh® CEO — a master athlete with almost 40 years of international experience in higher education management, interdisciplinary scholarship, professorial tenure, healthcare administration, sports medicine and exercise physiology, physiatry (physical medicine and rehabilitation), as well as spirituality and theology — serves as Medical Director and pro forma Secretary General of the corporation. Responsible to oversee and supervise all operations, he assures programmatic compliance to the philosophy and mission statement of Gymflesh®.
◊    In 2007 he founded the global UN-affiliated humanitarian agency Gyms Without Borders, and in 2009 he began preparations for the 2015 international Olympædagogy Panathletic Games™.

◊    The Gymflesh® Medical Director has authored more than 20 books, thousands of publications and lectures, and for 11 years was employed as a senior human rights diplomat with the United Nations in NY.  As founder and Secretary-General, he headed Ecumenics International, a Greek Orthodox, global, nonprofit, nongovernmental organization on human rights, education, healthcare, religion and spirituality with the United Nations. Simultaneously he served as a Special Rapporteur reporting to the UN, having designed, coordinated, and supervised grassroots health education programs and human rights mandates in 51 countries. During his UN tenure, he was required  to investigate, monitor, and recommend solutions to human rights crises, having submitted dozens of statements and reports, all published in six UN books.
◊
Having modeled for fine artists, classic sculptors, and fashion and celebrity photographers, the Gymflesh® Medical Director's diverse gymnasium experiences and specialized expertise scan the globe, from micro-gyms to huge arenas. While on assignment in Athens during the late 1980s, he teamed with Olympic Committee members, providing practical innovations to age-old a posteriori erudition. His experience embraces decades of hands-on work with many sports, with pro and amateur athletes. He has directed medical exercise and sports services, physical rehabilitation gyms, physiatry departments, and worked with severe trauma patients, overseeing and implementing therapeutic prescriptions under the medical oversight of nationally-acclaimed hospitals, medical centers, and physicians.
◊    As a Kajukenbo sandan (third degree blackbelt), a former New York State firefighter, an national EMS educator, and a licensed security officer, he defends and serves his local community with outstanding recognition and merit, honor and courage, and unlimited generosity.
◊
Through the 1990s, the Gymflesh® Medical Director had the great honor to serve America as a professor of philosophy and of religious studies at the United States Military Academy. At West Point he brought his UN tenure and experience to the fore as he coached cadet candidates through preparatory physical training drills and health-related studies, mentored cadets through the Academy and after their graduations. Mostly, he designed an historic curriculum, authoring the textbook, teaching his courses at Thayer Hall, on the first-in-American-history military course on human rights, diversity and inclusion, multiculturalism and interreligious dialogue. In addition, he created, implemented, and hosted the West Point inaugural ReST Assemblies (Religious and Spiritual Traditions), based on the Model UN paradigm.

◊    Through a compassionate spirituality, the Gymflesh® Medical Director's depth and breadth of the human condition and of human rights, of sports exercise and preventive healthcare, have touched thousands of lives around the world by authentic human-to-human, hand-in-hand interactions.
